Session 2 - Big Trouble in Little China Themed Game

Players investigate a fish market after Han's boss can't be located. They discover a note in the mouth of a dead body. The note is threatening death to the owner of a notebook. After locating a notebook, they learn that the actual owner is Han, and he was lucky to leave the location alive. In the back of the restaurant is a cooler containing sushi grade tuna. The group looks closely inside that cooler to try and uncover any secrets that may be hiding inside it. What they find is a box full of old photos.

Starting the session:

Were we left off at the last game, you returned back to the restaurant. The gentleman (Han) has emptied most of the bottles of wine before him. Han threatens bodily harm to his boss and asks if anyone is willing to join him in a manhunt. Egg enthusiastically throws his arm in the air, volunteering for the adventure.

Han describes his boss as tall, with black hair, wearing red shirts and brown pants. Han leads the group to the fish locker where he works. They enter and discover the floor covered in slime and a lack of cleanliness. The group searches for Han's boss, and Han describes him as a fat liar pants, who is always angry. Eddie and Jack try to communicate with the drunk Han to get more information, but Han begins throwing fish and acting out.

Eddie rolls to open a door leading into another room but is paused when he looks through the door's window and sees a body lying on the floor. After some discussion, the group enters the room and begins the inspection of the dead body. The method of killing isn't clear, but there is a dead fish shoved down the man's throat. With a lot of effort, the group removes the fish and uncovers a note shoved in the mans throat also. The group discusses the condition of the body noting it is room temperature and has no visible bruising.

In an effort to inspect the dead body, Jack finds a notebook with horse racing information hiding under a counter. He shares the finding with the group. Eddie and Jack then discuss the significance of the numbers, concluding it is likely a bookie's notebook. Later on in the session, the group learns that this notebook belongs to Han.

The group continues to investigate the kitchen to see if they can uncover any additional clues. They find a chest cooler in the back of the room and proceed to open and explore the contents. They uncover a packaged fish portion labeled for a restaurant that Han says has never been delivered to before. Geno's is the name printed on the package. Egg translates the note from the dead man and lets the group know it is a death threat.

Upon closer inspection, Han and the rest of the group spot a familiar tattoo on the neck of the body. Egg displays that the tattoo is a fake by using some spit on his finger to smudge the ink. Some back and forth between Han and the group begins, and an older woman joins the conversation. She lets the team know that the people who have tattoos are dangerous. She also confirms that the fish monger is a front for a gambling ring. The woman directs the team to another location where she believes the owner may be located.

The group first goes to Geno's restaurant, hoping to uncover why they may have ordered the fish. Eddie picks the lock to get in, and they find the lobby filled with Italian desserts and a wall covered in wine bottles. The group searches the closed location and finds a room filled with stacks of cash. They assume the room belongs to the manager of Ginos. Jack and K-Vin examine the notebook, finding entries indicating significant gambling bets potentially tied to the money at Gino's.

The group discusses the situation for a while and then decides to take some of the cash. They plan to return to the original restaurant to continue their investigation. We end with the group leaving Geno's.

Fish Monger Lady (old): Yes, he only hired me because the old life won't buy his fish.

Eddie: 50k and good fish. You happen to know where Frankie old Gary lives?

K-Vin: 900's not enough, roll again!
